課程概述 |
1. To instruct and coach students on how to transform their research work into a publishable format for an English professional journal
2. To train students on how to present research findings in a clear and logical manner, with English as the language medium
1. What constitutes a publishable paper?
2. Polish students’ manuscript topics and contents
3. Coach students’ preparation for presentation
4. Facilitate critiques among students during presentations
5. Final polish a manuscript writeup

課程目標 |
This course is a seminar class intended to practise geographical writing in English on human geographical topics (preferably) and is targeted for geography students with advanced standing. The final product for this course is either a Review Paper or a full Research Paper, depending on the students’ background. For those who have preliminary groundwork done for their topics, they will be asked to prepare a “Review Paper”. For those who already have research findings ready to be presented, they will be asked to prepare a “Research Paper”. Class discussions will be conducted in Chinese by which students’ writeup will be polished and reworked on with close supervision of the instructor. Students are expected to spend substantial amount of time in writing and editing to meet the required standards of a professional journal article. |
